Frustration At Denny's
The month of shift changes continues, and I am irked to find that my eggwhite omlette, supposedly 330 calories, is drenched in some evil looking liquid that could be butter or oil, and I am certain it is not properly stored flax oil. GRRRRR!!! I have been eating it, but at this point I am quite concerned that I am consistently going over calories, and I don't even like the greasy part! So I'm thinking of a new strategy: I will order three hard boiled eggs, in the shell so they can't be corrupted, and peel them myself, eating the whites and donating the yolks to local wildlife. Shoot my flax oil at home on a teaspoon morning and night. I am so annoyed because in spite of my frequent requests that my omlette be made with NOTHING in the pan, it keeps coming back greasy!!
Meanwhile, MR is off to England and I had to get my own supplements this morning at 5 am. How irksome. It's amazing how quickly one can turn into a princess. I am so used to my beautiful Orange One serving up my supplements that I feel truly put out to have to fish them from their bottles myself.
Back to the crazy week of work.

I have a suggestion: next time you're at Denny's, go directly to the kitchen & ask to speak to the head line cook. Ask him/her outright what they're using. At least then you'll know! They may not have non-stick pans available, so need to use some form of oil to prevent the eggs from sticking. You could then ask your waitress each time you go in to as the cook to wipe the pan with a paper towel before actually cooking, as a special favour to you. It's regular customers that businesses love. If you've become a regular, you'd be surprised what they might do to accommodate you!! JD :-)

Looking at the Denny's website, it says that the 332-calorie Fit Fare Veggie Omelette has 8g fat and that the veggies are sauteed. So, I figure the chef is supposed to measure out a half Tbl of (probably) canola or vegetable oil.
If it's way over that, the chef is obviously not sticking to the recipe, and his oil pouring privileges should be revoked.
In any case, fried oil is not the healthiest thing in the world, so you are probably better off just ordering the hard boiled eggs. If you don't feel like peeling shells and want to order something a little more "breakfasty," you might consider ordering poached eggs with firm yolks.

Poached eggs is your best bet. As we don't have none stick pans at Denny's and do have to use oil in the pan or we wouldn't be able to get them out.
We do hope to see you at our Denny's.
