A CRON Christmas -- With Technology Review!
Well, Jason Pontin sure was a lot nicer to me than he was to Aubrey de Grey. Good thing, too, since I would have no doubt burst into tears if he had called me a troll. Anyhow, check out this article on MIT's Technology Review! You can finally see pictures of us, and here's the most important part: Kieffer found his way into the last pic! Yes, that's the kitty cat face on the left side of the last pic. He was no doubt plotting an assault on the Christmas turkey while I was too busy getting my picture taken to remove him from my chair. Finally, Kieffer makes his national media debut. I know it's the moment you've all been waiting for. You've made up your minds about CR, MR, eggwhites and the whole mess of issues surrounding life-extension, but you haven't really lived until you've seen Kieffer the giant tabby cat.
I had tons of fun making the feast, with able help from MR and photography by loyal blog reader Mike. Love those aerial salad shots. Mike stood on the chair to make that happen. I hope the readers enjoy the light tone of the article, and maybe even try some of the recipes! Small correction: a teaspoon of oil only has 40 calories. And be sure to cook the Jack Daniels pumpkin for at least half an hour... that's how long it takes for the alcohol to reduce, cutting the cals by 35%.
Lenny Guarente may think that CR makes people miserable, hungry, and cold, but as you can see, we're quite cheerful, about to sit down to a giant, nutritious feast, and not visibly chilly. I have to find his email address so I can invite him to dinner with us... does anyone know if he has a favorite vegetable?

April, The link to the pictures doesn't seem to work. Can you post it on your blog? Thanks and have a great holiday.

Kathryn,
They're there, I just re-checked. click on the link in the text called "click here to see photos".. a popup containing the first pic and links to the other 5 will show up. Depending on the ad-blocking you have active, it's possible you won't get anything or the popup won't pop up. But it should if you temporarily disable it.

I liked the article, and the pictures were nice too.. :)
I was curious and Pontin's article that he did about de Grey, and I was surprised at how flat-out hostile he was about the idea of life extension.. still, I have to give him (Pontin) credit that he didn't play the "religion" card.. I think that he has fallacious reasoning, but is "bad" press better than none? Which shows perhaps that before practical life-extension for the masses occurs, education may be needed too.

Your pics are great! If ever two people were meant to be together, it is you two. You make a very visually striking pair :) Do strangers ever ask if you are siblings?

April,
I finally figured you out... After I've looked at the pictures. You're nothing like I imagined. You're an ugly midget babe, and your boyfriend must be on the shortlist for the next vampire hero. I don't want to brag about my slavic genes which gave me what they gave me, but to say the least seeing those pics of you guys made me much more self confident than I ever was...
Comparing myself to an ugly dyed red head midget, I suddenly realized that I had so much more going on the appearance department.
And you're not as skinny as you say you are either. What's the deal?

Zeynep, you are a nasty, hateful imitation of a human being. In addition, you obviously have some serious psychiatric problems that need treatment. No wonder so many Americans hate people from the Middle East if you are an example. I have met April and she is extremely attractive, tiny and elegant as well as intelligent. So she colors her hair. Big deal. So does over half the female population and not just in the U.S. MR is a very attractive, intelligent guy. Both of them have manners. Maybe you should develop some.

Hey Loretta,
I dye my hair too. And I am blond. I am not from the middle east, I am from Turkey. Turkey is not the middle east, so correct your geography knowledge. From what I see in the pictures, April is a plumb, ugly midget. She can be intelligent and she probably is, but that doesn't change the fact that she is an ugly midget.
Why are so so upset about this simple truth? Are you an ugly midget too perhaps?
