Calcium Cravings
A lot of CR folk report that once we start eating right, we find ourselves craving healthy foods when we don't get enough of them. Whether it's awareness, the body getting in tune with its needs, or just delusion, feeling like you really want a food your body needs is great. I definitely find that to be the case. I was low on calcium yesterday because I went out for lunch with my co-workers and so missed my cup of nonfat plain organic yogurt at lunch. Sure enough, today I went calcium crazy.
So far today I've had my quotidian breakfast, my regular salad for lunch with a cup of yogurt, plus 200 calories of almonds and ANOTHER TWO CUPS of yogurt! Oh they tasted so good! Just finished a megamuffin for a quick snack/early dinner before running out to another meeting. I may eat a bit more tonight when I get home late, as I'm under calories (my average is 1300 or so,) but yesterday was a bit high (as restaurant eating days invariably are) so if I go under today, it's fine to balance out.
More answers to comments and questions soon! Been very busy, but will write more when I can.

Hi, April. How are you?
I discovered your diary by the article of The NY magazine. I'm from Brazil, and the article arrived here in the Época's Magazine (if you want, take a look at this link). Then, it was that way that I knew the CR Diet. The diet seems to be perfect, but a little hard to do... but I got too much interested, that a bought Lisa's Walford book to know more and how to go on at the CR´s world, because I wanna know how to live healthy, young and for a long time... : ) I could not start the diet yet, because I'm waiting for the scale (for the kitchen) that I purchased. But, I'm trying to incorporate some habits to reduce calories (Oh, I already saw a doctor and I can start a diet from 1.300 calories).
Well, well, well... I think it's a good idea to end here, or I'll speak forever! : D
Kisses,
Aline (from Brazil).
P.S. #1: Oh, I noticed that you love to cook (at least it seems), and so do I! Could you post more recipes in your diary, please? (When you have some time, of course!) I'll love it.
P.S. #2: I'm awfully sorry about my bad English. Please, forgives me. : {

Oh, I just forgot to post the link (sorry), here it is: http://revistaepoca.globo.com/Revista/Epoca/0,,EDG75711-6014-443,00.html
The Época´s Magazine it's a big magazine from Brazil like the NYT ("Época" - portuguese word- means "Time"). : ) The CR is also culture! ; )
Kisses,
Aline.

You know when I crave milk? When I've had too much wine the night before. I'll wake up at 4 am and just NEED a 12-oz glass of milk. Wierd. Maybe the alcohol leaches the calcium out of my system? Dunno, but it happens almost every time I overindulge, so there has to be something to it!

I've been starting to worry about calcium on CR. Hearing about anorexics getting osteoporosis, and things... I'm not sure why when one eats fewer calories, why calcium in particular can become deficient... I eat dark leafy greens everyday, and feta, so.. I think that I should be getting good calcium- but I think I suffer from symptoms of lack of calcium... and have heard that it's an issue for women with anorexia. And then I worry that if I take calcium supplements, that I'll get excess calcium in my soft tissue- and get arthritic stuff... or calcium deposits or whatever... Don't you find calcium complicated? Some say that certain forms of calcium in food aren’t absorbable calcium, etc.

Can you comment on the exercise and physical ability issue? Is CR compatible with sports where one needs strength and endurance and how does on eat on tohose active days?
