Cooking For 14 Life Extensionists

The Mprize core volunteer group wanted to try a CR-friendly meal, so (in a moment of insanity of the sort to which I am given) I said I would cook the Saturday lunch.

That's right: cooking for 14 ad libber life-extensionists in my hotel room, with my two burners and microwave. Turned out okay, incredibly enough.

Here's what I made:

-- Vegetable stew of diced tomatoes, no salt veggie broth, garlic, onions, leeks, brussels sprouts, Quorn dogs, Quorn tenders, cauliflower, and fresh pepper.

-- Salad of purple kale, napa cabbage, and dino kale with a chardonnay vinegarette

-- Shrimp cooked in dry white wine with bell peppers and garlic

-- Apples and pears baked (or microwaved, in this oven-less hotel room) with cinnamon and topped with hazelnut oil

-- Chunks of megamuffin and megabrownie

-- Almonds, cashews

Everyone liked the food, or at least they said they did.

It was an inspiring weekend, full of realistic hope for the future.

But now I'm home and back at work and need to go to sleep so more soon!

Oh, I bet they loved it. Don't let that article get you down. It sounds delicious. :)

How long did you nuke your pears and apples? That's actually something I could see myself making for my crew. Easy, quick and healthy!

Hi Amy!

I actually overcooked them a bit in this case, but ideally you'd cook them about 2 mins on high.

Be sure to add the cinnamon before microwaving, but the oil *after*!

Enjoy!
