You've Gotta Fight For Your Right To Cook Seafood
Al: I appreciate all your comments, and your contribution to the lively discussion on this and other blogs. I never did receive your off-blog email, so try to re-send? It's great to have debate! Reasonable people can disagree.
However, reasonable people can not disagree with cats. Why? Because cats are not rational. Cats, unlike people, have no choice but to follow their biological programming. Why do I mention this? Because tonight I am going to a dinner party, and my contribution is shrimp and scallop appetizers for twelve.
You know what that means. Battle of the seafood.
You see, my cat knows what he wants. And it's seafood. Shrimp, scallops, tilapia, you name it, he's gonna eat it. He is a powerful kitty. Those of you who come to the house in March will see the majestic creature that is Kieffer. Opposable thumbs (like Hemingway's cats), a meow that could wake the dead, and a very muscular physique.
It's going to be a challenge.
I'm making chipoltle tomato shrimp and wine/basil/garlic scallops, then stuffing the goo into (separate -- not shrimp and scallops together) napa cabbage leaves, which are great substitutes for bread since they're crunchy and stiff enough to hold stuff. They also make very pretty appetizers, since they're leafy and all. I know it will make a gorgeous, healthy dish that all will enjoy.
But in the meantime, I have to battle the giant cat. Sometimes you've got to fight for your right to cook seafood.

Lucky diners! Other things that work very well for such appetizers are leaves of Belgian endive, snow or snap peas, pieces of larger stalks of celery and cherry tomatoes. With those, you simply cup off the tops, scoop out the centers with a little spoon and trim just a sliver off the bottom so they stand up prettily. JD :-)

Hi April,
You and other CR bloggers may wish to included in you blogs videos, such are in the http://www.mariakris.blogspot.com blog.
The other thing, might be to have a map of sites from which bloggers view your blog, such as in the http://glchapman.blogspot.com/ blog.

I think Al Pater's comment is blog spam. I was curious, so I checked the links out.. while they seem to be legitimate blogs, they have nothing to do with CR or diet. Also, they don't have videos nor do they have a "map of sites" such as the comment suggests. Why would someone post this?
Al Pater, if you are a real person and not a spambot, I'd be interested to hear your opinion on CR.

April, my cat LOVES chicken. She goes wild for rotisserie chicken, moreso than any seafood. That is very odd, I think.

April, I posted this comment twice with more info the second time. Please use this one, instead of the first one.

If you read the CR society lists, you'll see Al's name every day posting scientific findings as they relate to CR. He's an extremely dedicated practitioner. I'm checking the links too, cause I'd like to understand them better myself. But I just thought I'd post this response to the comment above.
I think Al's links are examples of how people add videos and photos to their blogs. The second site has a "Map" image linked to it showing where everyone else viewing the blog is located. Kind of neat.
Here is the address of the map link

Speaking of the CR society archives, I found a way to access them (the obvious link is broken, but a bit of hunting in google came to the rescue).. go to:

Deborah, that clustrmaps thing is neat!
Images in blogger aren't too hard, I played around with that some this weekend. The best way I've found is to go to "photos" from within google mail.. and since blogger and google are linked, it's pretty straightforward. Not as easy as Livejournal though :) (in my opinion anyway)

Hi, April. Just wanted to let you know how I found your blog. I spent a week in Corpus Christi, Texas at a training where I met your dad. I had gone alone rather than with a group from my church, and they had a table for people who were there alone, and we formed our own little group. We had a great time, and one day at lunch he was telling us about you. I am such a computer junkie and had my brand new laptop there in the hotel room, and I love people, human nature, and all the unique and quirky ways people live and express themselves. I guess he was surprised at dinner when I came back and told him I had gone on your website and read your blog. I told him it was like watching reality tv, another thing I have to admit I can get sucked into. I watched the video of your newstory and then read some entries, and a story about you began to unfold. And you are an interesting writer, have an enjoyable way of expressing yourself. I just wanted to say hi. Your dad was a great person to meet and a lot of fun; really helped liven up the conference and the long hours spent around a table studying and learning. We managed to all break away for a fun and authentic dinner one night, too. Take care. Michelle
