S-H-R-I-M-P Night Chez L'Orange
My cat loves shrimp so much that we can not speak its name aloud without tipping off a chorus of "MEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!" So we have learned to spell the name of the beloved crustacean, much as though we were parents of a four year old who had not yet learned to read.
I often eat fish or chicken when out, but MR eats meat precisely once a month. So tonight, the long-awaited meat night rolled around and I made shrimp.
Here is today's shrimp dish, which made MR very, very happy.
I took raw, unpeeled shrimp, and boiled it in 3 oz of a very dry rose wine, with grape tomatoes and a whole lot of fresh cilantro. Cooked until the shrimp were bright pink and looked done through, topped with 1 teaspoon flax oil and some avocado chunks. Giant, plate-sized dish of steamed asparagus with yellow squash, topped with garlic and lemon juice. Glass of wine.
People who say we must be starving have clearly never seen the volume we eat. Regular, non-CR'd folks often can't get through it cause there's just too much food. But it's low calorie, nutrient packed.
Kieffer got several pieces of shrimp. He is now lounging on the floor, trying to stay cool. MR is hating the heat and humidity, and I feel guilty cause I love it. My hair loves this weather, I feel safe and comfy in a womb-like hot wet atomsphere. As Jessica Simpson said, the real me is a Southern girl, and I will forever feel most at home in the midst of extreme heat and humidty.
Which is not to say that I would turn down some air-conditioner, were it to be offered. But I do enjoy the CR effect on body temp... I can endure much higher temps than I could pre-CR.
Okay, onward to do the dishes...

Cats love the heat though.
My Tigsy was the same for prawns. P could barely peel them and hand them to her quickly enough, bless her.

I have to admit, your food sounds great. You are obviously a very good cook. I have some points to make about your other entries that you might not like so much:
-You, yourself, referred to your boyfriend's hands as orange in that article you provided a link to (unless the journalist is lying and misquoting you, you said something akin to his hands being "cute" and that you call him "the orange one"). So: are you saying that his hands are Not orange (or that it does not matter if they are) in the "oompa-loompa" segment of your last blog entry?
-In terms of "choice", you made a distinction between anorexia and CR (in response to the very complex and reasoned insights that "K" brought up - an admitted anorexic - in a previous blog entry).
I think "choice" is very subjective, regarding the way you eat. There is no proof that you are operating under anymore choice than "K" is. If the brain of anorexics are affected by starvation, (and we know this is so and that their brains are adversely affected by starvation) than it is reasonable to ask if the brains of CRONIES are likewise affected by the same intake of calories (even if the CR's motivations are different from the anorexics). "K" only gets by on 100 calories, and you seem to somewhat eat more than that. Yet "K" and you both eat very little. So, to draw comparisons between anorexia and CR is valid for the general public.
You may tire of such comparsions, but they are going to happen more, I think. You and your fellow CRONIES are putting your lifestyle in the public eye (the upcoming book: "The CR way, your interviews with the media, and so forth).
***There is also the study, written of in Gina Kolata's newest book, "Rethinking Thin" that indicates the people who live longest are, on average Not the very heavy OR the very thin, but those moderately "overweight".***
Several people have tried to discredit that study but it seems obvious, from Kolata's writings, that is is a far more balanced and rigorous study than similar ones with opposite findings (ie: that any extra weight shortens life).
If the study is on "overweight" and longer life Is correct (read Kolata's analysis of the study for further info), then CRONIES are putting themselves at risk. To publicize such a lifestyle as not only healthy, but super-healthy, is extremely problematical if CR is not what it claims to be.
Then they are putting other people at risk, as well, by advocating such an extreme approach.
And, despite the studies on mice, rats, etc., I don't think even the CRONIES, themselves, can say, *for sure*, that their diet is guaranteed to prolong life.

Correction to previous entry: I meant "1000 calories" , not 100. Even the CRONIES eat more than that, of course.
