Well done on the piece in the Sunday Times Magazine! Am pleased the portrayal of you & MR was normal-but-geeky, non-freaky and generally positive. Happy new year to you, your family & the cats.

I've already read two mainstream magazines this New Year singing the praises of celebrity diets that range from 1200-1500 calories. I've always thought it ironic (and hypocritical) that the calorie ranges for CR get slammed and misconstrued while celebrity diets are "oohed" and "ahhed" over if they appear in "reputable" magazines. Hmm...

I would guess that "ethical" eating here refers to cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly eating, as opposed to body-conscious eating. I don't think NPR has got healthy eating confused with good ethics.
I know you've always said that you don't like to attach a moral judgement to eating habits, but I guess I always assumed you were talking about healthy vs. non-healthy eating. Do you think that vegetarianism, for instance, should be regarded as an amoral practice?

Good piece, once I found it (in the London Sunday Times, online edition). I particularly liked the bit where he gets back into "normal" fare and discovers, "I have a headache, I feel tired, bloated, a bit depressed." Unfortunately, like all the other journalists, he makes the erroneous assumption that CR practitioners must be hungry all the time. JD
