The thing I get - and I am sure you must do as well, is when I am eating something like almonds, someone considerably heavier than myself (that's almost everyone over the age of 10) comes up and says 'they're fattening, you know'. I really wish I knew what point they are trying to make.

Instead of screaming,"I'm not fat BECAUSE I eat like this!", I usually try to explain that eating healthily actually makes me feel much better, hoping that that will be more believable and/or helpful for people... not sure if anyone has understood that any better though.

Mainly, I get the sense that people feel guilty about eating poorly when they see someone who is thin and eating well. They make it into an ethical issue and would feel better if I were eating more like them. So then I try and be like you--it's not ethical, I enjoy eating this, and I enjoy the results I get. If you don't want that, or it's not worth it to you, or you're still working on it, that's fine. I really will respect you either way. But please let me eat my greens in peace!

Not that "diet" is so healthy, I'm not generally a fan. But in dire situations (this rum can't be all alone!), why add extra calories?

Yes!
I get this all the time in Japan because of my lack of eating refined white rice/noodles, which seems to amount to 50% of a normal diet here - the rice which people just eat plain with no sauce. At least my broccoli has some flavor. People have no idea what to think when I ask for my salad without noodles or rice or dressing then ask for olive oil and just pour that on.

If I just wanted empty carbohydrates I'd sit around eating sherbet all day long, thank you very much.
